Marathon Week! Training on Taper week Nov. 25-Dec 2, New Protein Muffin Recipe!

Marathon Training – Nov. 25-Dec 2: TAPER WEEK – I cannot believe this week is here!! (finally… lol) It’s race week! This post includes my week of Running and training! 🙂and other stuff I’ll add in – like recipes, podcasts. < em>


  • I’m now just 1 WEEK from the California International Marathon (as of Nov. 26).
  • My goals are honestly  just to run my best in the upcoming race.  I am training to do a 3:11 full marathon (or better of course!).
  • I have included some sort of cross training 5-6days a week – either lifting weights or an insanity (plyo/core/HIIT) Workout.  This week, however, I will just be using insanity workouts (no lifting).  I like the insanity workouts because they include stretching and also keep me feeling light/bouncy/athletic, which is how I want to feel for a race 🙂
  •  I am working with my running coach Susan – she is also doing the same marathon!  You can read more about my training plan from her in my Week 1 post here

Running, Cross Training this week (I start my week on Saturdays):

Saturday

  • 3 miles with strides at the end
  • 30 minute Insanity
  • Made some yummy gluten free muffins! And have switched from macros to intuitive eating :). My favorite muffins are below in the “Sunday” section !


Sunday

  • 3 miles with strides at the end
  • 30 minute Insanity
  • Prepped some protein muffins for the week! I take 6muffins to eat through the day at work and pair them with apples and salad for health

<<<Recipe below makes 6 fluffy protein muffins! Mix and bake at 350 for 10-15min!<


Monday

  • 3 miles with strides at the end
  • 30 minute Insanity

Tuesday

  • 3 miles with strides at the end
  • 30 minute Insanity
  • Nightly dinner! Massive salad and omelette!


  • 3 miles with strides at the end
  • 30 minute Insanity
  • Nike loves her new Elk bone!

Thursday

  • 3 miles with strides at the end
  • 30 minute Insanity/Piyo mix (15min plyo and 15min yoga workout)


Friday

  • Travel DAY!
  • 3mile shakeout run & 10min yoga, and drinking a TON of water to stay hydrated as we fly cross country
  • Megan & I found an awesome Pho place that we plan to go to tmrw night as well!


Saturday

  • 15 minute Insanity & 1/2mile easy jog
  • Race Expo Day fun!


Total Miles for the week = 20ish. Sunday is the California International Marathon!  I will be posting on instagram my results, then will have a ‘race recap’ blog post sometime this week 🙂

  1. What insanity workout do you do that is only 15 min? I’ve been looking for one for days I don’t want to do a whole 30 min max30 workout, but I haven’t found one. I usually just stop it at the halfway point.
